ISI 2002-37. Plectranthus socotranus

A diminutive member of this genus in the mint family, this bears fleshy leaves less than half an inch long. These are smooth, with a slight silvery sheen on the grooved upper surface, sculptured with raised veins on the convex lower surface, and with a few crenations on the margins. Overall the leaf resembles the head of an Emerald Tree Boa. HBG 87322, rooted cuts of a plant collected Feb. 15, 1999, by G. James at 500 m. at Qaysuh, near the village of Khalansiya, Socotra, Yemen. $8.
