ISI 2007-30. Pachypodium rosulatum subsp. makayense (Lavranos) Lüthy Out of Stock

This second-most-recently described subspecies (C&SJ 76(2):85-88, 2004) superficially resembles P. brevicaule in having dwarf caudiciform trunks broader than tall but with emergent branches with more persistent spines and inflorescences and fruits that are not as pubescent. Its flowers are superficially similar to those of P. bicolor by virtue of the white-throated, yellow flowers. It is named for the remote and largely unexplored Makay mountains where it grows. HBG 95213, from controlled pollination of Röösli & Hoffmann 802, plants collected Nov. 11, 2002, at 650 m in the Makay mountains of Tulear Prov., west-central Madagascar. $30.
