ISI 2010-3. Echinocereus viridiflorus subsp. correllii (Benson) Blum & Lange Out of Stock

This southerly variant of the mostly Great Plains E. viridiflorus comes from the rich cactus habitat south of Marathon in Brewster County, Texas. In the taxonomically expanded concept of E. viridiflorus, the subsp. correllii differs in its coarser, pectinate spination that is typically in shades of yellow but sometimes blushed pink or red. As in the typical variety the flowers are lemony-scented greenish-yellow but may also range to rusty-brown. HBG 93438, plants from controlled pollination of material collected in the 1980s by Horst Kuenzler (HK1527). ; $6.
