ISI 2013-5. Parodia mammulosa (Lemaire) N. P. Taylor Out of Stock

This species is distributed over a broad area in northeastern Argentina, southern Brazil and Uruguay. Therefore, it has been redescribed under various synonyms representing populations that display variations in density, number and colors of spines, though all share the same gorgeous, satiny-yellow flowers with contrasting red or magenta stigmas. Two variants are offered here. One, described as Notocactus floricomus A. Berger, has the open spination of short, stout spines more typical of the species, revealing the glossy, green bodies covered with rounded tubercles. Plants grown from seed collected by Luis Wolman (LW 02) from Fortaleza del Cerro, Montevideo, Uruguay. HBG 118293. $5.
