This Central and East African species is not commonly cultivated but has proven to be a worthy addition to the Huntington’s Desert Garden. Its foliage is benign, glabrous green, composed of petiolate, ovate leaves with crenate margins on stems to about 60 cm (2') tall that wave in the breeze like flags for passing butterfly pollinators. These branches are topped by compact cymes of four-petalled, bright yellow flowers (in this form while some are orange or red). We offer rooted cuts of HBG 55113, collected by Seymour Linden (SL 85-2037) October 18, 1985, 13 km SW of Rumuruti, on D-466, Kenya. $6.
