ISI 2019-19. Aloe mitriformis Miller Out of Stock

Native to the W. Cape of S. Africa, this medium-sized aloe is perfectly suited to California landscapes. The form offered here has grown at the Huntington since 1930, so, has withstood many extremes of heat and cold. Its rosettes reach about 1' in diameter and offset to form colonies. The thick, deltoid leaves are glaucous-gray, lined with yellow marginal teeth. These complement other plants of that hue, a particularly effective combination being with the wavy-monstrose, yellow-glochid form of Opuntia microdasys. The dense, capitate inflorescences of slender, pinkish-red flowers are like sea anemones among the coral-like undulations of the opuntia. Chunky plants from tissue culture of HBG 82985. $10.
