ISI 2019-29. Haworthia koelmaniorum Obermeyer & D. S. Hardy

This choice species has been deservedly popular in cultivation since its description in 1967. Any new variants that display the genetic variability of the species are likely to be sought after. The clone offered here was imported from Sheilam Nursery in 2002 at a time when proprietor Winnie Schwegman was actively pollinating and growing seed from the collections of Bruce Bayer. This clone resembles that illustrated in Bayer’s Haworthia Revisited with coppery-red coloration but differs in the retuse upper surface of the slender leaves having smooth and remarkably glossy windows. Plants from tissue culture of HBG 120298 (Clone 1), originating from Groblersdal, Limpopo Province, S. Africa (a slight range extension from the originally described population from the Loskop Dam area in Mpumalanga just to the south). $17.
