ISI 2022-12. Aeonium arboreum var. rubrolineatum (Svent.) H. Y. Liu

The author of this nomenclatural combination, Ho Yih Liu, monographed the genus Aeonium for his doctoral thesis at Ohio State University in 1989. Many of the collections made during his fieldwork were donated to the Huntington, and the one offered here has endured and merits further distribution. The variety is named for the often-persistent, reddish leaf markings, ornamentation often seen only in juvenile plants of this genus. In addition, its compact inflorescences bear pink buds that open to pale yellow, ten-petalled flowers, making for a pretty, pastel display. We offer rooted cuts of HBG 58963, H. Y. Liu 2607A, collected July 24, 1983: Canary Islands; La Gomera; near the crossroads of El Cedro and Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, 1000 m. $8.
