ISI 2023-22. Haworthia ‘Hoidal Toidal’ A. Farrier

In April, 2013, we received this haworthia hybrid from friend Jim Laupan, who is now to be found somewhere in the New Mexico wilderness, but, at the time, was a resident of Minnesota. He frequented the nursery of Dennis Hoidal where he could pick up succulent gems for his growing collection. Dennis grew a number of open-pollinated haworthia seedlings, including this one that may have Haworthia tortuosa in its parentage. It has proven to be a vigorous and attractive selection, with compact, clustering rosettes of stiff, sharp leaves that blush a brownish color in good light and are ornamented with faint, white tubercles that line the margins and also mirror them in a point on the upper surface of the leaf. The name obviously honors the originator of this cross, Dennis Hoidal, and is a play on the slang term “hoity toity”, though there is nothing snobbish about this likeable, easy-to-grow hybrid. We offer divisions of HBG 118841. $8.
