Echinopsis ‘Wild Red Berry’

Flower to 4½ inches (11 cm) across. Petals veiny, dark dusky red. Throat-circle delicate red. Filaments dark red. Stigma white. Stem to 3½ inches (9 cm) in diameter, unique in its light green color and short-spined form, centrals only to ⅛ inch (3 mm) long. Named for a one of Bob Schick’s favorite wrestlers of the ’50s and ’60s, Ralph “Wild Red” Berry, from whom he learned the word, perspicacious. ISI 97-36; HBG 80622, Schick 881-44.
