ISI 2003-28. Haworthia ‘Gray Salt’ Out of Stock

This slow-growing hybrid of H. truncata and H. angustifolia has distinguished itself during more than a decade of cultivation at the Huntington. H. angustifolia contributes its tendency to offset tempered by the slow, solitary nature of H. truncata. The leaf forms of the two parents combine to produce clean, grayish-green foliage resembling a lushly grown Ariocarpus scapharostrus. Fine white papillae near the leaf tips appear crystalline but in addition seem to wick salts toward the apex, leaving fine mineral deposits on older leaves. This along with the epidermal color suggested the cultivar name for this hybrid. Rooted cuts of HBG 73836, a plant received from the International Succulent Institute in 1989. $6.
