As the name implies, this a durable plant (L semper = always, L viva = alive), long represented at the Huntington by a single clone: HBG 22933, collected in 1967 by Lavranos & Smith in S Yemen. We are now able to offer a score of clones from controlled pollination of two plants collected 30 yrs later. They are remarkably uniform in their thick, glaucous leaves and succulent stems and in their heads of lovely lavender-pink and delightfully fragrant flowers. Rooted cuts of progeny of HBG 80950, originally from seed collected 19 Jan 1997 by N Barboza (s.n.), on the Kawkaban Plateau, Yemen. $7.50.
