ISI 2005-34. Pachypodium menabeum Leandri Out of Stock

In 2002, Röösli and Hoffmann found a curious pachypodium during their annual winter expedition to Madagascar. At first it was attributed to P. lamerei, then it was thought to be a robust form of P. ambongense. Finally, comparison with the type specimen from the herbarium at the Natural History Museum in Paris has confirmed that this is P. menabeum, a species with a very restricted range in central Madagascar. A recent account of the rediscovery of this species and its relationships was published in KuaS 55 (10): 274-280 (2004). An article in Bradleya 22: 85-130 (2004) provides a more thorough review of all of the Madagascan pachypodia.
