Sometimes referred to as F. pottsii var. alamosanus, this rare and distinctive barrel cactus has depressed globose stems that are usually solitary but sometimes clump. The straw-colored spines are needle-like and densely intermeshed and have a reddish tinge in the new growth. Known only from a restricted area E of Alamos, Sonora, Mexico. HBG 93974. $5.
