ISI 2013-23. Huernia ‘Stretched Hide’

This open hybrid of H. thuretii var. primulina is a sibling of H. ‘Foma’ distributed as ISI 2011-29. However, this selection shows much more of the influence of its seed parent in it pale flowers. Unlike that variety, though, the flowers are larger and have a stretched appearance by virtue of the more attenuate corolla lobes inspiring the cultivar name coined by Karen Zimmerman. The corolla also bears a raised annulus of the same creamy color as most of the flower and a few dark papillae around the sunken maroon center. Rooted cuts of HBG 109632, $10.
