Ornithogalum is a genus of a couple of hundred species of bulbs ranging throughout the Old World but centered in South Africa. While they all share certain floral similarities, foliar diversity is remarkably broad and distinctive. O. fimbrimarginatum stands out with its few-leaved rosettes of nearly planar, glossy, bright-green leaves. The multisyllabic epithet aptly describes the white-fringed margins. Enormously tall, the inflorescence is composed of numerous flowers suggesting those of paper white narcissus.
