ISI 2014-6. Rebutia albipectinata Rausch Out of Stock

This species was distributed as ISI 1305 in 1982 as a single clone of the Friedrich Ritter collection (FR 758) propagated by grafting by Charlie Glass. However, it no longer seems to be in general circulation. Like that earlier distribution, the Karel Knize distribution (KK 849 as R. densipectinata, an unpublished synonym), represents the same dark-bodied form. This is truly a gem of the genus forming tight, conical or rounded clusters of small heads usually less than a cm. (3/8") in diameter. While the epithet albopectinata refers to the pectinate (comb-like) clusters of white spines typical of the species, this form has shorter, darker spines that allow the dark, purplish stem color to show. The flowers are the same crimson-red often with magenta on the outer tepals and tube. Plants from controlled pollination of KK 849, originally from 2800 m. at Jucanas, Tarija Department, Bolivia.
