This highly desirable species is prized for its usually pubescent leaves and vivid, bicolored flowers. However, leaves can be glaucous or green, covered with hairs or merely ciliate, or even glabrous as in var. oteroi. The var. minor is best known as a diminutive form with bluish rosettes to 5 cm (2") with fairly uniform pubescence covering the leaves. The form offered here is larger than the varietal name implies, with rosettes to about 12 cm (5") diameter of glaucous, bluish leaves covered with stubble-like pubescence. The urceolate flowers have the typical candy-corn color scheme, red-orange with yellow in the upper third. HBG 75908, divisions of M. Kimnach 3308, collected by Jeronimo Reyes at Cerro Pericon, near San Pedro Nopala, Tamazulapan, Oaxaca, Mexico. The cultivar name is a shortened version of the plant's place of origin. $7.
