Myrtillocactus geometrizans is from mainland Mexico and is a popular landscape plant in mild climates prized for its broad, shrubby, candelabraform habit. It is also the grafting stock of choice for many growers because of its vigor and ease of handling by virtue of its relatively few and widely spaced, short spines. Given its wide cultivation, it is not surprising that crested forms have occurred and been propagated as collectable entities in their own right. ‘Elite’ occurred spontaneously at Hans Britsch’s nursery, Western Cactus Growers, in Vista, CA. It caught his eye for its more refined, very tightly crested growth, different than larger crested forms in cultivation to date. We offer rooted cuttings of HBG 123081, $10.
