Precise parentage and date of introduction of this cultivar are uncertain. However, this is a worthy Bill Baker selection, probably an open hybrid of Dyckia platyphylla, from which Bill often made selections. It shares with that species fairly broad, somewhat glossy leaves, well-armed with marginal teeth. The cultivar name refers to the dual colored foliage, the leaves being rich burgundy red color above and covered with silvery trichomes below. We offer rooted divisions of HBG 82692, a plant purchased at the La Ballona Valley Bromeliad Show in 1998. $20.
