Tacitus bellus is a lovely plant in its own right, with large, dark-pink flowers. Large, colorful flowers are often expressed in its hybrids due to the high chromosome number of Tacitus (n = ± 204 vs. n = 19 for Echeveria harmsii and n = 23 for E. pulvinata). The ease with which intergeneric hybrids are produced in the Crassulaceae has made for many choice selections, including this cross with Echeveria ‘Pulv-Oliver’ (E. pulvinata × E. harmsii). Echeveria ‘Pulv-Oliver’ derives its name from its parents, the latter of which has a synonym of Oliveranthus elegans. This cultivar, made by Bay Area hybridizer Bartley Schwarz, honors the late Ruth Bancroft (1908-2017) who left us her eponymous Ruth Bancroft Botanical Garden in Walnut Creek, east of the San Francisco Bay, California. We offer rooted cuttings of HBG 134302. $8.
