Aeonium spathulatum is a diminutive member of this often very succulent genus of stonecrops, as members of the Crassulaceae are commonly known. This species forms a shrublet to 60 cm (2 ft) with a crown of thin-leaved rosettes to 5 cm (2 in) in diameter. These are nevertheless clearly succulent, the undersides distinctly lined with tannic stripes and the margins with bead-shaped cilia. The flowers are borne in surprisingly showy inflorescences as the blooms are bright yellow. One interesting feature has been noted in growing this species in our shade house. The adventitious roots are fine and filamentous, yet have the ability to generate new rosettes from these seemingly insubstantial organs. We offer rooted cutting of three clones of HBG 102815, collected by Mark Mort (03-1020). The species occurs on several of the Canary Islands. $7.
