Flower to 5 inches (12.5 cm) across. Petals relatively few, oblanceolate in two whorls. Inner petals flat, veiny-textured, mustard-yellow to bronzy-yellow with pink a midrib. Outer petals yellowish with a light magenta central stripe. Throat-circle pale yellow. Filaments yellow. Stem semicolumnar, to 3¼ inches (8 cm) in diameter; central spines to ¾ inch (1.8 cm) long. Pooka is the mischievous spirit of Irish folklore, similar to the Elizabethan Robin Goodfellow, or Puck. ISI 99-18; HBG 82630, Schick 1320-40.
