Flower to 4¾ inches (12 cm) across, but usually less. Petals strikingly bicolored, glossy reddish-purple and orange. Stem semi-columnar, to nearly 4¾ inches (12 cm) in diameter; spines to ⅝ inch (16 cm) long. This hybrid is named in honor of the Swedish businessman and diplomat who established safe-havens from the Nazis during WWII thereby saving the lives of some 100,000 Hungarian Jews.
